The American Bear

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is supporting a bill to ban the use of domestic drones to monitor citizens in the U.S. | CNN

He sounds bananas in the interview - he twice mentions a fear of drones being used to enforce recycling laws - but he knows the constitutional violations likely with the domestic use of drones.

Keep an eye out for the bill and tell your Reps. and Senators to get behind it — recalling a post from a couple of months ago, I fear that this bill might be D.O.A.:

In the seven years that the CIA and US military have deployed killer drones, the US Congress has never once debated the new commitment to drone operations.

On the domestic front, local police and Homeland Security agents are also enthusiastically deploying drones for law enforcement and border security missions. At all levels, government in the United States is sidelining mounting civil rights, privacy and air safety concerns. The US Congress functions more as a booster for the drone industry than as a regulator.
